JJS BACKGROUND
Johnnah Johnson Studios was founded in 2018 by filmmaker Johnnah Johnson as a photography-and-videography company
. After three years of client work behind the camera, the studio pivoted in 2021 to become a film-focused practice, narrowing its scope to cinematography and filmmaking while winding down general photography. One exception remained: headshot photography, which we continue to offer due to ongoing demand. From the outset, the studio’s model—shaped by the founder’s Comission–style approach—kept projects driven by Johnnah’s ideas and executed by a trusted team, marking our evolution from all-purpose visuals to dedicated filmmaking.
THE PROCESS
commission-based
You inquire with goals, audience, timeline, and ballpark budget; within 1–2 business days we confirm fit and run a focused discovery to mine story, context, and success metrics.
From that, we deliver a concise creative brief and visual treatment with a transparent scope, timeline, and fixed creative commission. Approve the plan, place a 50% greenlight deposit, and we lock dates and handle R&D and pre-production (script, casting, locations, boards, schedule). Production follows with founder-led direction and a lean, cinematic crew. In post, we edit, mix, color, and add graphics/music, then share a rough cut with up to two rounds of consolidated notes; a 30% milestone is due at pre-pro lock and the remaining 30% at rough-cut approval (prior to final delivery). You receive platform-ready exports (plus captions/key art if scoped), we safely archive, and optional rollout/retainer support is available.
